ProScale

ProScale is a method providing a hazard and exposure based scoring system for comparing chemical risks associated with products in a life cycle perspective. Use ProScale to assess the potential of chemical exposure throughout the life cycle of products.

A method for assessing the toxicological potentials of product systems in a life cycle perspective
The ProScale method enables LCA practitioners to factor in hazard and exposure data in a simple and efficient way. The user-friendly tool provides users with an impact assessment method helping to substantiate the toxicity aspects of environmental assessments. It proposes a performance-based indicator that can consolidate hazard and direct exposure potentials from chemicals along their life cycle.

Research and test cases

The ProScale methodology and tool are under constant development, one of the ways this occurs is by research in various projects at IVL. Another very important opportunity for development is to learn from the test cases that are taking place in collaboration with the ProScale consortium partners. Read more

About ProScale

ProScale was developed to address the challenge of evaluating the overall environmental and health impacts of products along their life cycles. It treats the need to identify and quantify hazards and exposures from chemical substances.
